Kim Blatt (formerly Bazylewicz) is the Director of Research Compliance at Montclair State University, and oversees the activities of the institutional research regulatory committees (IRB, IACUC, FCOI, IBC), and policies (including research misconduct and export control) to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and institutional policies. The Director interacts with Principal Investigators and other researchers and staff regarding implementation of their research to ensure policies and regulations are followed. She advocates for the development and implementation of new processes in the research compliance area that creates and supports responsible conduct and integrity in scientific research, including the development and implementation of educational programs. She also oversees research misconduct inquiries and investigations as the designated Research Integrity Officer (RIO).

Carrie Laset is a part-time Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Research Compliance.  She supports the operational needs of the office, which includes supporting the IACUC, IBC and IRB.  In this role, she handles correspondence, coordinates receipt and processing of research proposals, schedules meetings, follows-up on IACUC, IBC and IRB requests from principal investigators, and provides customer service to students, faculty and departments conducting Research.  Carrie earned her B.A. in Elementary and Special Needs Education from Boston College.  She worked as a teacher before changing course into the research compliance community, and served as IACUC Coordinator at New York University.

Danielle Richardson is a Compliance Analyst in the Department of Research Compliance. In this role, Danielle reviews IRB submissions, audits/monitors research studies, conducts IRB workshops, and assists researchers throughout the submission process. Danielle serves as a voting alternate IRB member. Danielle has her B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Couples & Family Counseling from Walden University. Danielle is currently pursuing her Doctor of Strategic Leadership degree. Prior to joining our team, Danielle was a Clinical Research Coordinator for 12 years. She effectively managed Phase 1, Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Clinical Trials which resulted in obtaining FDA approvals for medications and products currently on the market.

Allisun Romain is a Compliance Coordinator in the Office of Research Compliance here at Montclair State University. In her role, Allisun is responsible for administrative management, export control compliance, campus outreach and education, and providing support to researchers and review staff throughout the IRB process. Allisun earned her B.A. in Psychology from Monmouth University in May of 2022 and her M.A. in the Psychological Sciences from Montclair State University in May of 2024. Leading up to her first role in the field as a part of Montclair’s Office of Research, Allisun collected years’ worth of human-subjects and social/behavioral research experience as a student, lab assistant, and teaching assistant.

Graduate Assistant

Alexandra McGinley is our Graduate Assistant in the Office of Research Compliance for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school year. Her duties include supporting the office with various administrative tasks, as well as assisting staff and researchers throughout the IRB process. Alexandra earned her B.A. in Psychology at Rutgers University and is currently working toward earning her M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology here at Montclair. During her undergraduate studies, she worked in a Social/Organizational lab studying the effects of Covid-19 on the undergraduate population. In the future, Alexandra’s goal is to make work environments healthier and more productive spaces for employees. Outside of academic settings, Alexandra enjoys spending time in nature and alongside her friends and family.

Dana Heller Levitt is Professor of Counseling at Montclair State University. She has been an active member of the IRB since 2009. Dana is the co-director of the Counseling PhD program and previously served as the Graduate Program Coordinator of master’s programs. Her research focuses on ethics and ethical decision-making in the counseling profession in addition to counselor values, development, and pedagogy. Dana has served the counseling profession as a member of the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) board, co-chair of the American Counseling Association Ethics Committee, and numerous state, regional, and national associations. Dana received her BA in Psychology from James Madison University and MEd and PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia.

Sarah Kelly

Sarah Kelly is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Montclair State University. She has been an active member of the IRB since 2019. Her research has 2 foci: The first area of interest is: exploring the vulnerable youth and their exposure to various experiences that influence their health and development. The second area of interest is examining the professional development of new graduate nurses as they transition from the role of student into nurse. Sarah has served the nursing profession as the Chair of the Student Engagement Committee in the Public Health Nursing section of the American Public Health Association. Sarah received her BS in Nursing from York College of Pennsylvania, MSN in Nursing Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her PhD from the University of Kentucky.
